Screening of Awasar + Embroidery 101

The month of March marked the presence of 9 wonderful women from different backgrounds and professions in an in-house event at SAATH. In support of Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal, the screening of a 13-minute long documentary of our work with women in Janakpur was followed by a discussion on livelihood for women.

The event also witnessed participation in a light-hearted embroidery lessons where each made a rose and dedicated it to themselves. The overarching theme of the event was to appreciate the diversity and strength of women converging from different backgrounds.

AWASAR

TOT on Embroidery
With the fifth batch of advanced level training in Tailoring and Mithila Art ongoing, our efforts to introduce newer skills that are market-led and product based initiated this past month. The trainers and past participants of Tailoring training attended a 3-day TOT on Embroidery skills in Kathmandu. Product-based training was provided, the modality of which will be used in Janakpur for the ongoing participants of our training. In addition to Embroidery, training in crochet work, and paper-based packaging are also being provided to the women participants at the training center.

HAKUNA MATATA

Recreational Camp
The Annual Recreational Camp of Hakuna Matata was attended by all the children this year. By the river bank of Trishuli, we organized a 2 days recreational camp to allow the children to make use of their free time in reflection and recreation. The children rejoiced their time at the camp followed by a boat ride to conclude the camp on the second day.

We are still raising funds for Hakuna Matata and Parahu on the GlobalGiving platform. The support received will directly be used to facilitate the capacities of the children and facilitators in Janakpur and Kathmandu.
