AWASAR

Workshop on Business Management and Financial Literacy

After receiving the TOT in Business Management and Financial Literacy in December, our team members provided a 3-day workshop for the outgoing batch of 32 Advanced and Basic Level Tailoring and Mithila Art rights holders this month. The workshop was based on the training curriculum collaboratively developed in support of the Master trainer in Kathmandu and the participants. Knowledge and practice of self-assessment, marketing and operations and financial literacy were the most discussed topic during the workshop.

Batch E closing

With the completion of Batch E, Basic Level and Batch D, Advanced Level training in Tailoring and Mithila Art, this month was a conclusion for the outgoing batch of rights holders in skills training. The outgoing tailors were provided with a sewing machine each and also supported with fabrics that could help them continue their work at the community level. The Mithila artists also received art materials to continue working in mastering the art form.

In addition to this, 13 women and girls from the outgoing batch joined the Awasar Women’s Collective to continue converging at the center for socio-economic strengthening and development.

HAKUNA MATATA

Capacity-building

After concluding the year of Social Skills, we organized an orientation session on Year 4 of the capacity-building project with the children of Hakuna Matata this month. Year 4 on Higher Order of Thinking will focus on driving the children to think more creatively/ critically. The sessions are organized merely to facilitate the inbuilt skill set the children have.

Parahu

The children at the learning center celebrated Saraswoti Puja (dedicated to the goddess of knowledge, learning and wisdom) in a grandiose manner. The celebration included performances from the children and offering to the goddess. The children received stationeries in the occasion of the ceremony.

We are still raising funds for Hakuna Matata and Parahu on the GlobalGiving platform. The support received will directly be used to facilitate the capacities of the children and facilitators in Janakpur and Kathmandu.
