PROGRAM UPDATE
Here’s what happened this month at SAATH:

AWASAR

Our Batch A beneficiaries in support of one of our trainers have initiated a tailoring shop this month. The new shop owners are looking forward to running the shop at Govindpur, Dhanushadham and utilizing the skills learned during their 6 month long basic and an additional 6 month Advanced Tailoring Training. SAATH in this process will merely support them in their initial days.

This month, our Mithila Art trainer along with one of our beneficiaries came to Kathmandu for an in-house ToT. In a week-long stay, they worked to further sharpen their skills to add to their knowledge of Mithila art beyond the wall or poster paint. They also had a brainstorming session with organizations working in the creative field for collaboration.

SAATH is currently trying to pursue Mithila Art in a slightly different light by collaborating with artists and artisans from various backgrounds.

With the support of The Pollination Project grant, we are working with five women who have lost their jobs due to the lockdown caused by COVID-19. At present, these  women are engaged in home based employment opportunities through Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal.

HAKUNA MATATA

Capacity Building
This month we conducted Monitoring and Evaluation of the workshops and sessions conducted in Year 2 of Hakuna Matata- Capacity Building. The M&E was done with the full participation of the 11 children of the project. We were also able to formally launch Year 3 of Hakuna Matata last Saturday. Year 3 of Hakuna Matata is based on Social skills.

Parahu
We recently piloted Project Parahu in Dhanusadham by providing the 190 children with stationery materials for a month. The stationery distributed will be utilized by children to read and write in the learning center. Now, as the project has formally commenced, we will put emphasis on the personal as well as professional development of trainers for the upcoming month.

To support the community of children for a sustained and longer period, we are still raising funds for the learning center. The fund raised will support 190 children along with the 3 facilitators of a Musahar community who visit the learning center every day to conduct literacy classes for the children in the community. We have begun the project activity at the moment.
