The capacity building process continues……..

Hakuna Matata – where kids can be kids revolve around the workshops that we conduct every month for the marginalized children.  It’s been three years we have been continuously organizing these workshop for the capacity building of the children that we support. We are currently working with 40 children who are infected and affected by HIVAIDS.

Each Hakuna Matata workshop is designed under certain theme and till now we have organized workshop in many themes like love, art, music, yoga, culture etc. The workshop timing is usually 5 to 6 hours depending upon the action plan of workshop. Various games and activities are included in the action plan to make the workshop more interactive and vivacious. Generally, we start the workshop with an ice breaking session followed by one major activities related to the particular theme. For instance, we recently had a workshop on self motivation and stress management theme, where we kept one hour yoga session for children.

We always try to introduce new things and new places to our children so we also put an effort to take them picnic once in every quarter of the year. These kinds of picnics give children one more reason to be happy. Other than that, we even take them to new places where they can learn new things. In the month of March, 2016 we took them to Alliance Françoise, French Cultural Institute in Kathmandu where they come across with Ludotheque. Ludotheque, is a game library where children get to learn and play new games that develop their logical skills. Our children enjoyed and learned a lot through this game library.

Our main objective behind these workshops is to make difference in these children lives by supporting and motivating them through various capacity building activities. However, there are many limitations because of which we are still not being able to provide support to the best, and among them the funding problem is the most. We have been generating funds for these workshops through local resources and other fundraising activities like Flea Market and Food 4 Food.
