Kunchok

My family and I have seen a lot of devastation during the earthquake of 2015. I lost my father, brother, sister and grandmother during that time the memories of which still haunts me today. It was a very difficult time for me and my mother. I got saved from the disastrous event because I had gone out to buy meat to prepare for lunch that day and my mother was out in the field working. After the disaster, my mother was in a state of shock and she had lost her consciousness. I have a small sister who is now my responsibility.

Our neighbor helped us to regain back to the normal life. It, of course, took us some time to cope up with the situation but now I believe that I and my mother are doing really great. I am not a very educated person as I left my school at a very early age. I am 16 years of age and at first, when I came to Kathmandu under Danfe for the tailoring training, I was very fearful. But now, after the eight months long training, I am confident because I have a kills in my own hands. The time spent during the training period was a fun experience for me.

I have seen really hard days because earlier I used to work in a hotel and my task was dishwashing.  For me personally, counseling sessions were really helpful as I learned to cope up with my stress and balance my emotions. Now, I am self-assured about one thing that I will now go back to my village and practice more and eventually open a tailoring shop of my own.

So, I am really glad to be a part of Danfe and feel absolutely lucky to have got this life to change opportunity for myself through which I will now be able to support my mother, my family, and my community as well.
